dc.description.abstractThe study was intended to determine the causes of student’s perception towards the learning of biology and how it impacts on their performance. The study used both qualitative and quantitative-research design. This enabled the researcher to obtain a better understanding of how student's perception of biology impacts on their performance. Questionnaires and interview guides were used in the collection of data One of the main outcomes of the study is the confirmation it has provided that students perform well in biology at the secondary level. This study also aimed at determining the challenges encountered by teachers when instructing biology. It was recommended in the study that there was need for; using student-centered teaching approaches, using meaningful activities in their classrooms, and promoting conceptual understanding in sciencesen_US
