| dc.description.abstract | The study was about socio- economic factors and the enrolment rate of girls in early childhood development centers in hodhan location wajir county. It was guided by four objectives; to determine the profile of respondents in terms of ages, level of education, income level and occupation on the side of parents and gender, age bracket, level of experience and level of education on the side of teachers, then to determine the level of socio economic factors as regards to home factors and school factors, to determine the rates of girls enrolment in ECD centers under study and to determine if there is a significant relationship between the degree of socio economic factors and the rates of girls enrolment in ECD centers under study. Using the descriptive co- relational survey and ex post facto, the study employed 150 parents and 28 teachers in four selected primary (ECD) schools. The study found out that socio economic factors to be generally satisfactory and therefore good for girl's enrolment in the ECD centers. The null hypothesis of no significant correlation between socio economic factors and the rates of girl's enrolment in the ECD centers was rejected and positive correlation between the two variables was found. Based on the findings of the study the following were recommended; the school administration policies should be made clear and fit for both boys and girls, the school rules should be accommodative for all and responsibilities equally shared. The parents should be to involve both boys and girls in household chores and give equal opportunities to both boys and girls. | en_US |
