dc.description.abstractnventory management is a very important function in management especially for those firms that invest heavily in inventory. Inventory management generally looks at how best inventory (Raw materials, Work in progress and Finished goods) can be plmmed, organized and controlled in an orgm1ization so as to cut inventory cost and maximize its benefits towards the profitability and efficiency of the business. This is a research report of the research that was carried out on Uganda's Supem1arkets on how they handle inventory mm1agement a11d how it affects their profitability and efficiency and how best it can be improved. The report was presented in five chapters summarized as follows; Chapter One; This chapter gave the background and introduction to the research, the objectives of the research, the hypothesis, the scope and significance of the study. Chapter two; this chapter establishes the existing literature from different sources about inventory management and also shows the relationship and usefulness of this literature to this particular study. Chapter three; tlus one explains how the research was carried out giving the study design, nature of the data collected, data collection methods, analysis and presentation of data. It also gives the limitations and the limitations faced during the study. Chapter four; this brings out the research findings, their interpretation and implications in a bid to achieve the research objectives at1d answer the research questions. Chapter five; this chapter gives the sununary of the research the reconm1endations of the researcher and the general conclusion to the research.en_US
