This study investigated head teachers leadership styles in relation to strikes in secondary school within Kambiti Secondary School, Muranga South District-Kenya, was used as a sample school. The head teacher of Kambiti was interviewed while the students of this school answered questionnaires. The researcher employed a descriptive survey method to determine head teachers' leadership styles in relation to outbreak of riots in Kambiti Secondary school of Matete. The researcher utilized researcher devised instruments which were:- interview guides for head teachers, and questionnaire for the students. The questionnaire intended to find out the leadership styles employed by the head teacher and the student's views concerning these leadership styles was obtained by use of the questionnaire. The researcher sought permission from the head teacher to allow her conduct the study in the school amongst the students. The data collected was then edited categorically and analyzed using pie charts, bar graphs and tables using frequencies and percentages. In analyzing the data, qualitative techniques were also used. Major findings of the study include that leadership styles played a big role in the organization and thus can mean the difference between a strike outbreak or peaceful resolution of the disagreement. Basing on this, the researcher believes that no single leadership styles should be used solely. This is because, depending on the situation, a particular leadership style may be better and yield more results than others. It thus would remain the duty of the leader to use the appropriate style based on the particular situation and his/her strengths. It should be noted, however, that whichever style is taken, a healthy communication channel between leader and subordinate should always be kept open.en_US
