dc.description.abstractThe study aimed at finding the impact of strikes on secondary schools students' performance in Wangapala secondary schools in Rachuonyo district as the case study area. The researcher used questionnaires and interviews as tools of data collection; these were administered to students, education officers, and teachers who were the source of data collection. The study was guided by the following objectives; a) To establish the causes of strikes and academic performance in secondary schools b) To find out the impacts of strikes in secondary schools c) To provide possible solutions to strikes in secondary schools According to the findings, the study concluded that, dull curriculum, lack of transparency, poor and proper facilities and lack of sports equipment are some of the causes of student's strikes in secondary schools. It also concluded that destruction of properties, poor relationship between teachers and students as well as teachers and parents which all leads to poor academic performances among students. The study recommended that, the students who are involved in strikes to be expelled from school with immediate effect, also the school compounds is to be secured with stable fences and guarded by credible security agencies around the clock. The study concluded that 40 percent of students perform poorly due the increase of student unrest in secondary schools in Rachuonyo District.en_US
