Abstract
This study focused on the Factors affecting the performance of children with hearing impairment in science in the mainstream schools in Buyanga Subcounty, Iganga district. Interviews and questionnaires were used as research tools to collect data from respondents. Random and purposive sampling techniques were used to select schools and the respondents. The findings revealed that teachers in the mainstream experienced some challenges which among others included; lack of training in special needs education among teachers, inadeqaucy of appropriate science equipment and learning materials, inappropriate teaching materials, negative teachers’ attitudes towards the education of the deaf children, inappropriate modes of communication, low pupils’ interest to learn science and high Teacher.
