The purpose of this study was to determine low vision and the academic performance of Learner in selected primary schools of Chebarus zone, Nandi District Kenya. The study sampled schools using the simple random sampling technique. Therefore, twelve out of twenty two public primary schools were selected for the study. From the sampled schools, an equal number of teachers ( 4) were selected, two teachers from both upper and lower primary level yielding a total of 48 teachers. Data was collected using a questionnaire for the teachers since all the respondents were literate. The information collected was analyzed in tables, frequencies and percentages. The major findings was that there is a good number of learners with low vision in the regular primary schools who are handled by teachers who have not undergone special needs education training. This leads to quite dismal performance by the learners with visual problems. Based on these findings it is recommended that short-course training on low vision should be organized by the govemment and non-govemmental organizations so as to equip the teachers with skills on managing learners with visual problems. Parents, teachers and the community at large need to be sensitized on low vision so that they can be able to detect any sight problem at an early age.en_US
