| dc.description.abstract | The study seeks to investigate the role of Amnesty International on advocacy for human rights. The specific objectives were i) to establish effect of Amnesty’s ending torture on advocacy for human rights, ii) to determine the effect of Amnesty’s abolition of the death penalty on Advocacy for human rights and iii) to assess the effect of Amnesty’s protection of Refugee rights on Advocacy for human rights. This study used correlation research design. Quantitative methods were used in data collection. The researcher used purposive sampling to select top authorities. Data was analyzed using SPSS software package. Findings on the effect of Amnesty’s abolition of the death penalty on Advocacy for human rights in Mogadishu, Somalia had a total mean of 18.91. The findings on the effect of Amnesty’s abolition of the death penalty on Advocacy for human rights revealed that most death sentences are passed and executed by Alshabab, often following proceedings that fall short of international fair trial standards. The study concluded Amnesty International has sheen proved to play a prominent and more direct role to restore the right to health care, right to freedom of expression, right to food, right to education, right to security. The study recommended that Amnesty International should develop criteria on when it is appropriate to advocate for a ‘protection of civilians’ mandate. | en_US |
