(Kampala International University, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, 2014-11) Abdikarim, Omar Magan
The purpose of this study was to assess the relationship between human resource skills and management styles in the selected public sectors in Mogadishu. based on three research objectives which included; i) to determine the level of human resource skills in selected public sectors in Mogadishu, Somalia, ii) the determine the level of Management practices in public sectors and iii) to establish whether there is a significant relationship between the level of human resource skills and management practices in the selected public sectors in Mogadishu. This study adopted a co relational design based on the quantitative and qualitative approach. The questionnaire was the main method used for data collection. Basing upon the above generalizations, the researcher recommended that organizations’ investment in Human Resources Skills should not be focused on trying to forecast what employee skills they will need to accommodate future strategic, technological and marketing changes, rather, they should focus on having sufficient variety in their skills so that they have an increased chance of adapting to change that cannot be foreseen. Hence new management practices to reform the system in public sectors. In the same way, skills development schemes should be given priority as there is no meaningful organizational development without workforce adequate skills.
