It examines the various definitions and understandings of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), the challenges in its implementation, and the critical role of educational institutions in fostering sustainability literacy. Through a comprehensive review of literature and case studies, this study identifies key trends, thematic strands, and effective practices in sustainable education. The findings highlight the importance of integrating sustainability into curricula to prepare future generations for the complexities of global sustainability challenges and to promote holistic development.
