    Qualities of Teacher Counselors on Counseling Services of Selected Kandara Secondary Schools in Maragwa District Kenya.

    Objectives: The study investigates qualities of teacher counselors on counseling services, in selected schools of Kandara Division, Maragwa District, Kenya. It determine professional qualifications of the teacher counselors. Design. The study employed the descriptive survey method of investigation. Environment: This study was conducted in four public secondary schools in Kandara Division, Maragwa District, Kenya. Subject: The study involved 36 students and 36 teachers, totaling to 72 respondents. Instrument: This study used a researcher devised instrument through questionnaire to collect the data. Data collection: The study generated both qualitative and quantitative data, hence descriptive statistics was used to analyze the data. Findings: This study revealed that the level of the teacher counselors empathy and unconditional positive regard were found to be high while the level of genuineness was moderate. Conclusion: Based on the findings it was concluded that there is need to train more teachers in specialized areas in order to make counseling more effective.
