The study was carried out based on the four spedfic objectives; Identify the demographic characteristics of respondents in terms of gender, age, position in the institution and years In service ,determine the extent of organizational climate, determine the level of academic job satisfaction and establish if there is a significant relationship between the extent of organizational dimate and level of academic staff job satisfaction. The study was In form of a descrIptive correlation design, to describe and analyze the condition of the selected private universities in Kampala, Uganda. Questionnaires were used in collecting both primary and secondary data. The collected data were analyzed using both qualitative and quantitave methods. The findings showed that there was a strong agreement on organizational dimate and academic job satisfaction in selected private unIversities in Kampala, Uganda. The researcher conduded that favourable structures, responsIbility given to academic staff, reward, good conflict resolution strategies ,ieadership styles goal setting, and communication among the academic staff as some of the determinants of organizational climate in selected private universities. Also the researcher concluded that partidpation in decision making, open discussion of conflicts, motivation, participation in today today work schedule and clarification and explanation about the job duties were some of the determinants of academic staff job satisfaction in selected private universities In Kampala, Uganda. The researcher recommends the need of undertaking a strategic visioning and democratic leadership styles in selected private universities In Kampala, Uganda.
