C P E) has been dismal, a situation many have said to be sad and wanting. children from more than 50% of the Kenyan population who live below the poverty line do not attend school regularly, due to unknown reasons. This has really worsened the performance in C.C.P.E. The researcher therefore ventured to find out the impacts of absenteeism on the performance of mathematics of the learners. after the report, the necessary recommendations will be made to the Government of Kenya, the ministry of Education, the Teachers Service Commission and the Education Management committees to device new methods and approaches to curb the problem of absenteeism m schools in order to achieve the educational goals and objectives. the study was carried out in a public Primary School in Gucha-South District-Kenya.

The area also faces a lot of economic, social and cultural problems. The general performance of the leamers in primary and secondary schools is not pleasing. This made the researcher to try to investigate problems faced together with their possible causes and solutions. The researcher explored on the important roles of head teachers, teachers in facilitating learning. According to the study the researcher felt that the most cause of poor perfonnance in national examination is absenteeism. The research explored literature written about causes and solutions to absenteeism to come up with what other people have written in relation to research problem, the research described about the research design sampling procedures, research instruments, collections of data and analysis.

RichardThe purpose of this research was to investigate the influence on learner's absenteeism on their academic progress in Kabarnet division, Baringo district in Kenya. The following objectives guided the study; to establish the prevalence and causes of absenteeism, to establish the relationship between absenteeism and poor academic performance and to find out if absenteeism affects the children's retention in school. The respondents were teachers since they were the people with first hand information about the learners. A questionnaire was used to carry out this investigation. Finding of the study showed that absenteeism was rampant in school and the causes were both home based and school based factors, and that some learners performed poorly because of absenteeism and in some cases they dropped out of school. It was recommended that teachers change their attitude towards their learners and make learning interesting. They should also counsel the learners.
