    Formal education and socio-economic status of women in Koboko District, Uganda:

    The focus of the study was to find the relationship between formal education and socio-economic status of women in Koboko district, and a case study of Koboko town council. The study was mainly directed by three objectives which included; to assess the relationship between high education level and socio-economic status, to examine the impact of low education level and socio-economic status and to find out the relationship between girl child education and standard of living. The study had adopted a research design referred to as a correlation design which describes in qualitative and quantitative terms where variables were related. Two sampling techniques were used in the study to come up with sample population of 60 respondents. Where 2 were from Koboko Town council officials, 3 were Civil Servants, 10 were business community, 5 were nongovernmental organizations and 40 were local community. The study used instrument such as questionnaire, interview guide, focus group discussion guide and observation checklist were used in collecting data in an attempt to find out the relationship between formal education and socio-economic status of women. The collected data was analyzed qualitatively using tables. The analysis revealed that formal education have greatly improved women socio-economic status in the community through reduction of poverty, improves health and reduction of bad traditional beliefs and the study further have found that women still have low socio-economic status in the community. The government should involvement civil society organizations in policy making, monitoring and evaluating of education programmes in the country. Furthermore, the international community should support governments in strengthening of policies that were put in place to help women in developing socio-economic status. Women's Education is a tool to enable citizens to make all rounded participation in development process and Educating girls and women is critical to achieve the benefits as well as the improvement in the areas of health, fertility and nutrition.

    The influence of alcoholism on agricultural performance:

    The topic of the study was the impact of alcoholism on agricultural performance. The study was conducted in Artwotcek Sub County in Amolatar District. The study was guided by three objectives; To assess causes of alcoholism on agricultural performance; To assess the effects of alcoholism on increasing agricultural performance; 3) To determine the possible solution to alcoholism on agricultural performance. The study used questionnaire to collect the required information. The researcher used the sample size of 62 respondents. The researcher used Solvens formula in order to determine the sample size used in the research. The results show that Alcohol consumption and dependence is considered a public health problem and deserves attention because of the social, work, family, physical, legal and violencerelated risks it represents. This study aimed to identify the effects of alcoholism on family relations and, by means of case management, to encourage the recovery of these relationships. The results show that the problems caused by alcohol abuse impose profound suffering to family members, which contributes to high levels of interpersonal conflict, domestic violence, parental inadequacy, child abuse and negligence, financial and legal difficulties, in addition to clinical problems associated to it.
