- Item142 A critical analysis of customs and general principles in the development of international criminal law(Kampala International University, School of Law, 2018-07) Diri Lawal, Abdul RahmanIntemational criminal law is one of the very broad aspects of intemationallaw generally, dealing with the investigation and possible prosecution and punishment of perpetrators of international crimes. In the prosecution of intemational crimes, intemational criminal law does contain various principles, norms and customs that have in fact contt~buted to its development. It is w1derstood that whilst international criminal law is different from intemational humanitarian law, there is a lot ofsignifance. Over the years, there has been steady development ofintemational criminal law. This study explains and analyzes comprehensively, the various principles and customs that have contributed to the development of intemational ct~minallaw, through, basically, the application of intemational humanitarian law and a little procedural and substantive human rights law applicable in anned cont1ict situations. The study identifies, however, that there are challenges which tend to hinder the continous development of international criminal law, and through the conduct of the study, to the end, discusses what the challenges entail and how they can be resolved.

- ItemA Review of Cluster Under-Sampling In Unbalanced Dataset As A Methods For Improving Software Defect Prediction(Journal of Applied Sciences, Information and Computing (JASIC), 2023) Abdulhamid Sani, V. S. Manjula and Musa Ahmed ZayyadIn many real-world machine learning applications, including software defect prediction, detecting fraud, detection of network intrusion and penetration, managing risk, and medical dataset, class imbalance is an inherent issue. It happens when there aren't many instances of a certain class mostly the class the procedure is meant to identify because the occurrence the class reflects is rare. The considerable priority placed on correctly classifying the relatively minority instances—which incur a higher cost if incorrectly categorized than the majority instances—is a major driving force for class imbalance learning. Supervised models are often designed to maximize the overall classification accuracy; however, because minority examples are rare in the training data, they typically misclassify minority instances. Training a model is facilitated by balancing the dataset since it keeps the model from becoming biased in favor of one class. Put another way, just because the model has more data, it won't automatically favor the majority class. One method of reducing the issue of class imbalance before training classification models is data sampling; however, the majority of the methods now in use introduce additional issues during the sampling process and frequently overlook other concerns related to the quality of the data. Therefore, the goal of this work is to create an effective sampling algorithm that, by employing a straightforward logical framework, enhances the performance of classification algorithms. By providing a thorough literature on class imbalance while developing and putting into practice a novel Cluster under Sampling Technique (CUST), this research advances both academia and industry. It has been demonstrated that CUST greatly enhances the performance of popular classification techniques like C 4.5 decision tree and One Rule when learning from imbalance datasets.
- ItemA review of factor associated with alcohol abuse among youths.(2023) Emmanuel Ifeanyi Obeagu; Getrude Uzoma ObeaguAlcohol is an intoxicating ingredient found in beer, wine and liquor. Alcohol is produced by fermentation of yeast, sugar and starches. Alcohol abuse is a maladaptive pattern of use of a psychoactive substance, indicated by continued use despite of knowledge of having persistent or recurrent social, occupational, physiological or physical problems that are caused or exacerbated by the use. The major factors that contribute to alcohol abuse among youth are environmental factors which include availability, presence of local breweries and persuasive advertisements followed by socio-economic factors like unemployment, peer pressure, social norms, stress, boredom, family neglect among others. The effects of alcohol abuse are poverty, gastric ulcers, death
- ItemA Review of Incidence and Clinical Outcomes of Neonate with False Tooth Extraction(Journal of Scientific Research, 2023) Emmanuel Ifeanyi Obeagu; Neema Bizimana Gloria; Getrude Uzoma Obeagu; Getrude Uzoma Obeagu; P.C. Okechukwu UgwuFalse tooth extraction is a cultural practice which have been reported in countries in Sub-Saharan as a management of fever, difficult in breastfeeding and diarrhoea in infants, and this has been thought to increase infant mortality. When false tooth is diagnosed it is advices before performing tooth extraction in neonate to wait for the commensal flora of the intestine to become established and to produce vitamin K, which is essential for the production of prothrombin in the liver. Thus, it is safer to wait until a child is 10 days old before extracting the tooth.
- ItemA review of urinary tract infections in pregnant women: Risks factors.(2023) Emmanuel Ifeanyi Obeagu; Amaechi Chukwudi Ofodile; Chetachi Blessing OkwuanasoUrinary tract infection refers to both microbial colonization of the urine and tissue invasion of any structure of the urinary tract. Bacteria are most commonly responsible although yeast and viruses may also be involved. Urinary tract infection (UTI) is the most common disorder caused by bacterial agents in pregnancy, can lead to important complications in newborn such mothers in case of inappropriate diagnosis and treatment. Urinary tract infection during pregnancy is common and high in age group between 26-35 years. The high incidence of UTI in the young reproductive age group is due to early pregnancy particularly in the remote settings. UTI remain a prevalent problem during pregnancy especially, in developing countries. Genital hygiene, urination habits and low socioeconomic status play significant role in the occurrence of UTI during pregnancy. These could be attributed to lack of knowledge about UTI risk factors and its prevention during pregnancy.
