Abstract
The purpose of the study was to investigate parenthood and academic performance of
primary pupils. The specific objectives of the study were To determine Parents influence
on the academic peiformance of early childhood education in regards to, Academic
oriented practices, School participation practice, Determine the importance of parental
involvement in their children's schooling, Investigate the Parenting Styles that affect
children The methods used for data collection were questionnaires to the teachers and
focus group discussions with the parents. The findings revealed that parental involvement
in their children 's schooling is very important. The study recommended that the
government should make sure that parents are included in educational plans and
that the curriculum should be designed so as teachers and schools include parents
in the studies. Parents and teachers should encourage parents to take part in
school activities and their children's school learning.
