Abstract
The purpose of this study was to find out the interventions of NGOs (Safe House) in improving the lives of orphans in Naivasha sub-district in Nakuru District. Orphans are children who have either lost one or both parents. They lose their parents through deaths which are usually caused by accidents, diseases like malaria and HIV/ AIDS. The problem of orphans is on the increase worldwide due to increase in the number of death. The study involved collecting data by use of questionnaires. The data was analyzed by use of qualitative and quantitative means. Qualitative means involved the development of a simple station including tables while quantitative means involved observation and description. After collection, data was analyzed; edited, coded and interpreted. The ... eport was written based on research objective and research questionnaire with the finding, conclusion and recommendations. Basing on the study the researcher made the following recommendations: Counseling and guiding should be of priority to the orphans since most of them have to deal with the trauma of losing either one or both parents at a very tender age. It is crucial to sensitize families and institutions handling orphans to prepare them for the new roles of caring for these children and highlight.
