Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the challenges facing free primary education in Kenya and Ugweri zone in particular. To investigate the extent to which the government is funding the government aided primary schools. To examine the community’s attitude towards free primary education to identify the rate of school drop out and retention after the introduction primary education. To investigate the challenges teachers, pupils and school administration Ugweri zone face.
