Abstract
The purpose of this research was to determine the factors responsible for poor performance in English among students of secondary schools in Nyamira division.The objectives of the study were, to investigate the contribution of teaching and learning resources to performance in English, to establish the relationship between teacher’s experience and qualification towards student’s achievement in English to establish the relationship between the way school is administered and the performance in English. To determine the problems secondary schools face in their attempt to attain good examination performance in English.
