Abstract
The study established the relationship between workplace conflict management strategies and
organizational performance at Kayonza Growers Tea Factory in Kanungu. The specific research
objectives were; to establish the relationship between avoidance and organizational performance
at Kayonza Growers Tea Factory, to determine the relationship between accommodation and
organizational performance at Kayonza Growers Tea Factory and to establish the relationship
between compromise and organizational performance at Kayonza Growers Tea Factory.
The study used descriptive and correlational research design and explored both qualitative and
quantitative approaches. The tools for data collection were questionnaires and interview guide.
Purposive and random sampling techniques were used to determine the sample size and the
collected data was analyzed using SPSS and a total of 201 respondents participated in this study.
The findings of the study in general revealed a weak positive correlation between workplace
conflict management strategies and organizational performance.
The study concluded that there was a negative relationship between avoidance and organizational
performance, it was further concluded that the weak positive relationship between
accommodation and organizational performance was insignificant and it too would not affect
performance and lastly, the study deducted that there was a weak positive relationship between
compromise and organizational performance.
This study recommended that organizations should adopt inclusive conflict management
strategies like compromise with collaboration and involve union leadership and employee
representation. Other factors like proper work equipment, employing quality human resource, a
fair remuneration policy, equal treatment of employees, improved technology, training and
development should be employed to improve performance in organisations.
