Abstract
The purpose of this study was designed to assess the effects of gender discrimination: taking a case study of Bunyaruguru Sub county, Rubirizi district. The study was empirically conducted and such, the evidence provided has solely relied on data collection and analysis of direct Questionnaires and the interview guide and a computer based packages i.e. Excel was used to analyze the raw information. The study was guided by the following objectives: to find out the causes of gender discrimination in Bunyaruguru Sub County. To establish the effects of gender discrimination in Bunyaruguru Sub County and to suggest appropriate measures to address the incidences of gender issues in Bunyaruguru sub county. The research questions that guided the study were as follows; what are the causes of gender discrimination in Bunyaruguru Sub County: What are the effects of gender discrimination in Bunyaruguru Sub County; and what are measures that can be adopted to address the incidences of gender discrimination in Bunyaruguru Sub County. Rubirizi District. Concerning the causes of gender discrimination, the research findings revealed that both the House hold Poverty and culture greatly accounts for the high rates of gender discrimination. It was equally found out that high attachment to socio-cultural beliefs also gives explanations to the escalating incidences of gender discrimination occurrence in Bunyaruguru Sub County. However, the research finding also unearth that strong religious beliefs attachment as well as practices could also cause gender discrimination in the sub county of Bunyaruguru and this was generously being supported by a greater number of the respondents who took part in this study.
