Abstract: | This study dealt with examination of the relationship between communities based organization and community development in Bwijanga sub county Masindi district. The study was based on analysis of secondary and primary data about community based organization and community development. Generally, the dissertation had five chapters with several sub-sections under each chapter. Chapter one presented the introduction, under which there were subsections like; background of the study, statement of the problem, research objectives, research questions, scope of the study and significance of the study plus the theoretical framework. Chapter two presented the literature review about community based organization and community development in Bwijanga sub county Masindi district; Chapter three described the methodology used in collection of data where 157 respondents were chosen to represent the other remaining population though at the end only 100 interview guide and questionnaires were retrieved. Then after chapter four and five were added and finally the research dissertation was produced. For Chapter four, it involved presentation, interpretation and discussion of findings and chapter six involved conclusions and recommendations. The methodology used was both descriptive and explanatory. Data was collected by use of questionnaires and interview guides. A case study research design was used to select the respondents from Bwijanga Sub County and all the selected respondents like the CBOs, from the study findings, female represented more than male with a percentage of 70% in comparison to male who had only 30%. Still from the findings most of the respondents could easily read and write since a bigger percentage had at least completed secondary with 28% which made data collection in terms of questionnaires easy and simple. On the relationship between Community based organizations and community development in Masindi district, it was true that CBOs have led to community development because they can easily access community and as well realized that they have unique strength in comparison to other humanitarian organization hence accessible by community members hence to a greater community members have been developed due to CBOs. The study concluded that CBOs have created community development ranging from infrastructural development, poverty alleviation through creation of more jobs and more taxes to the government regardless the other (researcher’s observation, 2015). |
