dc.description.abstractThe research investigated on Domestic Violence and Girl Child Education in Kansanga,Makindye. Division. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between domestic violence and girl child education in Makindye division. The study used a case study research design to get an estimation of the respondents’ views in regard to the objectives of the study. The target population was selected people in Makindye division putting greater focus on Kansanga parish. The study therefore used a sample of 80 respondents from a target population of 100 respondents. It employed a purposive sampling to avoid bias in data presentation. This study used both primary and secondary sources which all involved data from the field and literature already written by other authors. Due to limited time the researcher used questionnaires (respondent’s fill-in what they knew about the topic in regard with the formulated questions) and interviews (face to face narration). After data collection, it was ethically analyzed by use of frequency tables and percentages. The findings revealed that female participated more in the study with a percentage of 62.5% and 37.5% for male respectively, married respondents participated more with a percentage of 75%, most of the respondents completed secondary level with a 22.5% response. The study findings depicted that drug abuse (3 7.5 %,) accounts for the highest percentage of the causes of domestic violence as compared to patriarchal power andhusbands abusing wives. Objective two analyzed that domestic violence impacts a girl child through leading to poverty and economic dependency of the girl (31.25%), undermining thewellbeing of the girl (27.5%). Hence strategies like involvement of women as key players (3 1.25%), non-discriminatory education (27.5%) and communication based information (25%) and guidance and counseling (16.25%) can be adopted to overcome challenges. The study therefore concluded that the causes of Domestic Violence like drug abuse on both children and their parents; patriarchal power and disrespect have contributed to high girls dropouts from schools. Therefore the study recommended involvement of humanitarian leaders. Seminars to parents and severely punishing all those involved in the incident of domestic violence and violation of children’s rights especially girls. Hence further research is recommended on challenges to abolishment of domestic violence in families and people’s participation in the fight against domestic violence in families.en_US
