Abstract
Management information systems in Uganda have not been maximally put to use in the operations of different transactions. Suggestions and proposals have come up as to why and how management information systems affect the operations of financial institutions. For that matter, the study intended to establish the ways in which management information systems affect the financial institutions in Uganda; case of Stanbic Bank Uganda limited. Questionnaires and interviews were used as basic research tools and sampling as the method used in research. The study generally involved field research, library research and analysis of documents availed like the prospectus. The study disclosed that most of financial institutions in Uganda do not use management information systems to their maximum and therefore, few benefits are already realized like increase in profits margins (financial performance). The study concludes with the recommendations towards encouraging and availing appropriate information about the importance of management information systems and how efficiently to utilize any business opportunity to achieve a goal.
