Abstract
This research is based on “The effectiveness of World vision in rural sustainable development
in Bugesera district, the Eastern province of Rwanda”. The study was guided by three
objectives namely: to investigate the influence of World vision Rwanda on sustainable
development activities in Bugesera district, to examine the Role of World vision Rwanda in
promoting Unity, Reconciliation and Peace Building in portion sustainability of development
in the area of study, and then, to assess the impact of World Vision Rwanda in implementation
of Welfare conditions in Bugesera district for the sustainability of development. A stratified
method of sampling was used, and purposive sampling was used to select sample size.
Nonetheless, documentary review was used as well to supplement and validate the data
collected through the self- administered questionnaire.
The major findings include identification of internal activities of WVR to sustain rural
areas, people’s participation in the strategies and plans to sustain rural development,
influence, role, and contribution of WVR in promoting peace, unity, and reconciliation in
Bugesera district to enable and enhance the standard of sustainability of development in
the remote areas, barriers to implement sustainability of development, linkage between
good governance, and sustainable development, cooperation of different stakeholders to
empower development, favourite projects to the choice of people in which can promote
development, and then, how people are involved in the implementation of sustainability of
development in their areas. Lastly, the influence of WVR to make some social changes in
the sense of well- being of local people
The researcher recommends that WVR should financed the projects which people make
choice and should be supervised and monitored as well as its done elsewhere.
Government, WVR, and local community, and then other different stakeholders should
cooperate and work together to implement and achieve good standard of development in
the remote areas.
Local community should be implicate and much involved in the activities of development
actively because the benefits are belonging to them as first beneficiaries.
