dc.description.abstract | The research focused on the impact of child abuse on pupils’ academic performance. A case study of Kibuli Demonstrations School in Kampala District and was guided by three objectives namely; to establish the effect of Physical abuse on pupils’ academic performance, to find out the effect of Sexual abuse on pupils’ academic performance and to identify the effect of Emotional abuse on pupils’ academic performance. The study used quantitative research design. A sample of 1 95Orespondents was selected including employees and managers from a population of 441. Both questionnaire and interview guide data collection tools were used and data analysis was carried out using micro soft excel and presented in table and later discussed. Findings indicated that Child abuse caused pain on the child and Parents were responsible for child abuse. Physical abuse involved beating children, kicking children and hitting Children makes children lose concentration. Sexual abuse involves forcing children in unwanted sexual practices and this led to academic failure. Emotional abuse affected a child’s mind to concentrate in class. Shouting at a child makes him/her fear and may fail to pass exams and emotional abuse makes children develop mind disorder. The study recommended that the government of Uganda should emphasize on implementation of strict laws against child abuse. This can be done through arresting care takers who practice child abuse both at school and at home | en_US |
