dc.description.abstractThe study analyzes the Laws on Intestate Succession and the human rights aspects on Cohabitation in Uganda. It therefore expressed concern on examining the international discourse on cohabitation in relation to intestate succession, effects Ugandan laws on intestate succession have on women, children and cohabitants, explore the human rights implications on the discourse of cohabitation and intestate succession in Uganda and also provide for provide for the discussion of findings, conclusions and recommendations on cohabitation and intestate succession. The study used a qualitative methodology to collect both primary and secondary information. Primary sources are legal instruments on cohabitation and intestate succession which included the Constitution of Uganda in regard to maiTiage, succession Act Cap 162 together with international and regional conventions ratified by the government. Secondary sources of information were also used, the main sources being books, journal articles and electronic databases. The study also put a hint on the practice of cohabitation in countries like United States of America, Nigeria and regionally considering Kenya. Hence findings were positioned on compliance with Human rights implications on the discourse of cohabitation and intestate succession in Uganda and the globe at large. Recommendations were put on amendment of the law relating to succession and cohabitation to especially protect right of children and their mothers.en_US
