dc.description.abstract | The study was carried out in Arapai sub-county, in Soroti district with a major focus on the impact of TEMEDO as an NGO on poverty alleviation in Soroti district, a case study of Arapai sub-county. The general objective of this research was to find out the impact of TEMEDO as a local NGO on poverty alleviation in Arapai sub-county; with specific objectives include; to investigate the socio-economic impact of TEMEDO on alleviating poverty in Arapai sub-county, to find out the challenges faced by TEMEDO on poverty alleviation in Arapai sub-county, and to find out the possible solutions of alleviating poverty in Arapai in Soroti district. Related literature to the research objectives was collected by the researcher from the primary source through questions in questionnaires. Interview schedules and discussions with the main aim of finding more knowledge as understood by scholars before the research was carried out. ‘This was done in relation to the stated objectives. Analysis and criticism of the research findings was added to the existing literature about the objectives which are the major concerns of the research. This helped the researcher while presenting, analyzing and discussing the research findings. Primary data was collected inform of opinions and views using questionnaires, secondary data was obtained inform of reports. The researcher also used both qualitative and quantitative research design since the research was descriptive; the data was collected from Arapai sub County using questionnaires and interview guide. Data was analyzed and findings revealed on the different questions that were asked in the questionnaire. These findings revealed that poverty alleviation is paramount in every society if and only if economic growth which later leads to development is to be realized. In conclusion, the researcher recommended emphasis on government improvement on feeder roads in Arapai sub—county for easy accessibility, and continuous sensitization, among others. This should lead to maximum organizational effectiveness in terms of poverty alleviation in Arapai sub-county. | en_US |
