This was a descriptive co- relational study carried out in Makindye, Kampala District. The aim of the study was to assess the community’s stigma and practices towards persons with physical disabilities. To help with this appraisal, a total of 100 non-disabled respondents aged between 10-65 years were interviewed using simple random sampling, was used to decide locations and cluster sampling used for t he households. Almost half of the respondents had relatives, friends with disabilities and three quarter indicated that some intervention (like vocational training and equipping them with special skills) should be availed to persons with disabilities. Three fifihs (3/5) disagreed that there was equalization of opportunities to all members of the society’s; a fact reflected by nearly all of those interviewed stating no special institutions exist in the area to cater for the needs of persons with physical disabilities. It is therefore recommended that further sensitization and mobilization be community to be stepped up to harness the knowledge and attitude they possess so that they can be reflected in their practicesen_US
