dc.description.abstractMany Companies, organizations, and NGO’s has established the use of Computers as well as the accounting packages that will help them in preparation of different books of accounts like, general ledger. account receivable, account payable as well as inventory control, these books will help them in preparation of financial statements. Larger firms may choose to implement a customized solution which integrates a vast amount of data from many different departments. For smaller firms often choose an off the shelf product. Emergence of computers has enhanced the efficiency and effectiveness of accounting package and data storage in all financial institutions. Before initiation of computers most organization had various information systems. The introduction of computer technology in organizations facilitates the implementation of centralized information system to all departments of an organization. In this study the researcher examined the efficiency of accounting packages used by DFCU Nsabya branch in terms of speed, accuracy, scalability and power as well as factors affecting the application of accounting packages and finding the solution so as to minimize the risk involved. The data collection methods used by the researcher were interview and questionnaire. The report was written to summarize all the activities and information gathered during data collection. Simple randomly sampling from staffs in Accounts and Finance Department. sampling method, and purposive sampling to other staffs engaged in accounting package will be used as the main sampling techniqueen_US
