Abstract
The study aimed at assessing social work practices and services delivery in Mukono municipality, central Uganda, it was based on the following objectives which included to examine the challenges encountered in social work practices In Mukono municipality, to establish the contributions of social work practices to service delivery in Mukono municipality, to explore the strategies that can be attained to enhance social work practices for service delivery. The study will consider a combination of both descriptive and case study design involving qualitative and quantitative approaches from primary and secondary sources of data, to make valid conclusions. The study will be cross sectional research design in that, the data will be collected from many categories of respondents and at different times. The study used a study population of 70 which include respondents selected from the district services department (10), local leaders 40, selected service providers (20) requested to gather information from the respondents. A sample size of 60 respondents was selected to participate in the study. The study made the following conclusions majority of the respondents said that Social work practices at Community organization level entails bringing people together to deal with shared problems and to increase their say about decisions that affect their lives was the major contributions of social work practices to service delivery In Mukono municipality, majority of the respondents said that Increased interactions across nations, races or ethnicities, religions, and cultures was the major challenges encountered in social work practices in Mukono municipality. The study made the following recommendations, Social work is one of the helping professions. It Is a special kind of helping activity and some of the distinguishing elements of professional helping are: Help Is provided within the context of a formal organization. An organization called a Social Agency is set up for the purpose of providing a specific range of services to specific categories of people according to some specific rules and procedures using some recognized body of knowledge and skills. This is why a person employed to render help in such formal organizations must be specially trained. The people whom the organization is established to serve receive the service as a right
