dc.description.abstractThe research was carried out to find out the challenges faced by female headed households in Mpumudde-Kimaka Sub County as the case study area. The research arose due to the challenges faced by the female household heads and the objective of the study were to find out the nature of problems faced by female headed household, To examine the factors leading to women becoming household heads and To find out measures put in place to solve the challenges faced by female headed households. The researcher employed descriptive research design in order to ascertain and be able to describe the characteristics of the variables of interest in a situation. A sample of 50 respondents was approached to fill in the questionnaires using simple random selection of the households. Data was collected and analyzed using SPSS and was presented in tabular form. From the research there is concern that the main problem faced by female headed household is problem of finance and resource distribution, despite the study finding out there are very few female headed households in the sub county. The findings from research revealed that the government as the main institution organization is taking the initiative to address the challenge of female headed household in the sub county. The researcher recommended that, the government, NGOs and stakeholders should improve schemes for the female headed households so as to increase on their household incomes such that they can solve their financial problems and also proper channels improvised to solve family conflicts, social and moral problems.en_US
