Abstract
This research is about organizational transformation strategies. It examines various frameworks and models of transformation and strategic management and demonstrates how they can be integrated to transform an organization. AIG
Uganda Limited is used as a case study.
The problem with the insurance industry in Uganda is that has become more competitive due to entry by foreign firms. It is also faced with problems such as fraud, lack of innovation, non-selling products, credibility problems and lack of confidence by the public in insurance companies in Uganda.
This study aims at establishing whether AIG Uganda Ltd management and its employees are aware of transformation frameworks. It also aims at establishing the correlation between ethical issues, corporate social responsibility and core values on the one hand and organizational transformation on the other. Its scope is limited to the operations of the AIG in Uganda from inception to date. The primary and secondary data was derived from members of staff and official documents of AIG. Relevant literature was also reviewed.
The research concludes that transformation has been taking place at AIG over a long period of time and that AIG does not strictly follow the frameworks! Models promoted by the pundits of strategic management and organizational transformation. It recommends that the Company endow employees with new skills, competencies and purposes. It further recommends they should internalize core values, ethics and corporate social responsibility as strategies to reframe their thinking. It also proposes a future comparative study of businesses in Uganda to establish the usage of transformational strategies.
