| dc.description.abstract | The study investigated the phenomenon of children moving onto street in Pallisa Town Council in central division. It was based on data from survey by the researcher in 2007 complemented by secondary data or findings from various individuals and agencies that are responsible for children's affairs The findings revealed that almost all people around this area of study had negative attitude to words these children and were not always battered or rather concern about the phenomenon of street children. According to the findings, the phenomenon of street children was found to be caused by poverty, child negligence, poor parenting styles, mistreatment by step parents for example step mothers, death of either one or both parents, peer influence, being born the single mothers, break down of kinship and social support Network, presence of blended families, family break down due to divorce, and presence of extended families that does not have sufficient income to suppo11 its members. These children join the street because of lack of any alternative. The study revealed that all agencies that are responsible for the children's affairs do not actually implement children's budgets even when they do budget instead it remains a blue print paper for future reference. There is therefore need for the government, NGOs, Civil Society, private organizations, commtinity organizations CBO's, Local Government, Faith Based Organization, the Parents and the General Public to ensure awareness creation and above all help to monitor, the implementation of projects, policies, and programs that are meant to fulfill the needs of children | en_US |
