Abstract
The research was aimed at developing a Management Information System for a Book Shop Like most of the bookshops in Uganda, St Paul’s Book Shop uses the old type of record keeping by writing on papers the daily transactions that are carried out in the bookshop. However this type of system has a lot of challenges which include searching of book or a member in the bookshop. So this lead to the development of a management information system for that was aimed at reducing or eliminating the problems or challenges faced by the bookshop. The researcher used questionnaires, interviews, observations and documentation methods to collect the relevant data that was needed in developing the system. The researcher used document sampling to verify data collected using the above methods. Data flow diagrams were used to analyze the collected data so as to come up with the functional and non-functional requirements for the new system. Waterfall model was the type paradigm that was in developing a management information system. The developed system was tested in two way or parts the first part include unit testing where each form was tested differently from other form, then system testing was that included testing the entire system at once to ensure it was working as required. In conclusion the developed successfully catered for all the needs or requirements of the users and had addition capabilities like playing audio music and videos The researcher recommends that in future other database management system can be used and security at higher level should be enforced. In addition the researcher recommends that the system should be networked such that people far way can make order and purchase goods online.
