dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this research was to investigate parents' participation in universal secondary school education and students' performance in Jinja district, a case study of Mafubira and Namuresa sub-counties. The major objective of the study was to find out whether parental participation in universal secondary school education had any effects on students academic performance. The specific objectives/ research questions centered on the parents participation in Universal Secondary school Education and students academic performance in Jinja district, the role played by parents' in planning and financing in universal secondary school education and students academic performance, and the role of parents in disciplining their children and students' academic performance in Jinja district. The study was carried out in two sub counties of Mafubira and Namuresa involving 230 respondents of which 120 students were from six secondary schools randomly selected 59 parents randomly selected 6 head teachers and 45 teachers. A descriptive research design was used both quantitative and qualitative applications were used, results showed that parents were less involved in universal secondary school education which also shows that there was poor students performance. This means there was a relationship between parents participation in universal secondary school education and students' academic performance.en_US
