Both qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis methods were used. Statistical method like tables, charts, and graphs were used. The research study revealed that an individual’s level of education plays a key factor towards poverty alleviation. Evidence to back up the above argument is reflected in literature review provided by UNESCO 1997 which states that” The relationship between education and poverty is quite clear, educated people have a higher earning potential and are able to improve the quality of their lives. Education empowers a person and it helps them to become more proactive, gain control over their lives, and to broaden the range of available options.” The study, concluded that; education being a key in the alleviation of rural poverty, it therefore means that much has to be done to boost its sustainability and relevance-important to note is that advanced or practical than theoretical education be adopted, government to increase the funding of the education sector, local stalk holders to the sector be imparted with skills and knowledge that will increase on its values to fetch a greater income that would help improve on individual standard of living. The study recommends that stakeholders in development should address key aspects of poverty through planning and preparation absolutely in a critical manner and constructivism is key concept in that it respects student differences and allows students to use their own prior knowledge and experiences. The researcher recommends further study on the relationship between education and individual income, effects of poverty alleviation on the socio-economic welfare of individuals.en_US
