Abstract
The topic of the study was about Domestic Violence and Women Participation in Community Development case study: Mawokota County, Mpigi District. General objective was to investigate the factors affecting participation of women in community development projects. To achieve the general objective, the researcher used specific objectives which are, to identify socio- cultural barriers to men participation in community development projects, to assess the infrastructure and their impact in community development projects, to determine economic challenges of women participation in community development projects. The researcher used the following methods to collect data, Administered questionnaire, and interview guide. Data was analyzed using data processing, data recording, summarizing, interpreting and converting it into useful information. The study found out those women at many times were left other public life and economic activities like only 43% were vying for elective positions and 56.1% were not vying. The study also found out lack of access to roads for example 01% is very good, 36.1% is good and 62.9 is poor. Inadequate health facilities where 36.6% has health centers and 63.4% no health centers. The community should be taught the importance of having culture and women should encouraged to engage in community leadership to provide their input in development. In conclusion, research findings concluded that social culture factors, economic challenges and infrastructure contribute to low participation of women in community development projects
