- ItemThe effect of discipline on the academic performance of pupils in the selected primary schools of Ainabkoi division, Eldoret east district Kenya(Kampala International University, College of Education, Open and Distance Learning, 2009-04) Kipsat Jepchirchir, SalomeThe major purpose of the study was to investigate the effects of discipline and academic performance of the pupils in the selected schools of Ainabkoi Division, Eldoret East District, Kenya. The specific objectives of the study were to investigate the relationship between indiscipline and performance of pupils, investigate the causes of indiscipline in schools to establish solutions to the problem of indiscipline in Ainabkoi Division. The instruments used for data collection were questionnaires and focused group discussion. The findings indicated that those pupils perform well in class. The respondents named poverty, lack of parental guidance, emotional stress and joining gang groups. Lastly the solutions to the problem of school discipline were investigated and results reveal that suspensions and punishments are the most effective. School authorities and teachers should identify the reasons for children's misbehavior and therefore deal with the problem. Relative of the pupils and teachers should work hand in hand to discipline pupils. Guardians should realize that they play a bigger part in disciplining their children. Effective and less violent means of disciplining children should be devised.

The purpose of the study was to investigate the effect of classroom management towards academic performance of pupils in Madiany Division, Rarieda District. All relevant sources to this particular study were used in I he review of related literature. The research employed a descriptive survey and questionnaires were in this case employed in the collection of data from the respondents after which such data was analyzed and presented in percentages and frequency distribution tables. The .findings of the study indicated that the way of conduct of teachers, availability of learning aids and the motivation which teachers do get affected the academic performance of learners.

The curriculum formulated has not solved students' problems especially in academic performance. From literature reviewed in Diani Zone, Msambweni District Kenya reveals that variety of students have negative attitude towards English. From the literature review done it also reveals that majority of people believed that English is a Whiteman's language. Hence learners and teachers have no interest. Poor English performance according to literature review reveals that schools have inadequate text books of English language. From literature review it has revealed that Kenya education curriculum do not favour the learners effectively.
- ItemTeaching /learning aids and academic performance of pupils in selected primary schools of Siongiroi Zone, Siongiroi Division, Bomet District Kenya(Kampala International University; College of Education Open and Distance Learning, 2009-11) Chepkemoi, Edna M.The study set out to investigate the effect of teaching / learning aids on academic performance of pupils in selected primary schools of Siongiroi Zone, Siongiroi Division, Barnet District - Kenya. Primary schools in this Region have not been performing very well in KCPE for a number of years. Random sampling techniques were used to select 72 pupils from public schools and 24 from private schools making a total sample size of 96 pupils. The same technique was used to select 72 teachers from public schools and 24 from private schools making a total sample size of 96 teachers. Purposive sampling was used to select 12 head teachers. One instrument was employed in data collection and this was the researcher made questionnaire. Data was then presented in percentages and frequency distribution tables. The findings of the study revealed that the most commonly available teaching learning aids in schools are the visual materials 52%) of the respondents views). Also (89'X, of the pupils view) are motivated to learn when teaching - learning aids are used while (92%) of the teachers support the same fact. The findings also showed that it is difficult to carry out demonstrations using learning aids in situations where classes are large. This was (100% of the head teachers view). It was also found that learning resources have a significant effect on pupil's performance. This was also (100% of the head teachers' view). The researcher concluded that teachers and pupils prefer to teach and learn, touching and manipulating learning resources since they greatly influence learning. The researcher recommends that the relevance, suitability and applicability of learning resources should be tested before they are applied and that not all stakeholders should strive to provide them since they (learning aids) significantly boost pupil's academic performance.
