- ItemAdvertisement and sales performance in selected soft drink companies in Central Uganda(Kampala international University, College of Economics and Management, 2014-11) Nait, PhenyThis study established the relationship between advertisement and sales volume in selected soft drink companies, in selected districts central Uganda. The study was guided by four objectives, (i) profile of respondents (ii) level of advertisement (iii) level of sales volume and (iv) whether there was significant relationship in the level of advertisement and sales volume of selected soft drink companies. A survey design was used specifically descriptive correlation and descriptive comparative. Data were collected using self administered questionnaires as the key data collection instruments. The findings revealed that there was a high level of advertising strategies, high level of sales volume, no significant difference between advertisement and sales volume and no significant relationship between advertisement and sales volume was established, accepting: the Null hypothesis. From the above findings appropriate conclusions, recommendations and areas for further research were made. Conclusions were made regarding various research objectives (i) on profile of respondents, majority were of age group 20-39 (61 %), Gender (67%) male and (33%) female, (84%) of respondents were married, (80%) of respondents had university degrees, and 61% of respondents had working experience of above 8 years. (ii) High level of advertisement were used according to respondents (mean 3. 70) (iii) High level of Sales volume was established (mean 3.67), (iv) no significance difference (F= 0.637, sig. = 0.811), (v) no significant relationship between advertising and sales volume was established (r= 0.280, sig. = 0.033) and regression indicated by a high Adjusted R2 of 0.048 was established. recommendations based on the findings were that, soft drink companies should; (i) develop marketing plans, (ii) improve branding, (iii)develop proper packaging (ix) improve 'marketing communications (v) segment and target markets (vi) improve on their ' distribution strategy, (vii) improve product strategy management, (viii) innovativeness and creativity be improved (ix) carry out marketing research (x) improve on completive intelligence (xi) develop quality products and services (xii) and establish good relationships with customers. Areas of further research were suggested as impact of new marketing communications technologies (ICTS) on communication effectiveness, further research on branding and sales volume were also suggested.

- ItemThe application of procedures on the disposal of assets in the public sector a case study of Kole Local Government Headquarters(Kampala International University, College of Economics and Management, 2014-05) Apili, NancyThis study was carried out to assess the extent of application of the procurement procedures on the disposal of assets in Kole local government headquarters Kole district, in Northern Uganda. Data was collected through the use of questionnaires accompanied by observation and interviews. The study involved 20 respondents; these were all involved in different activities at different levels. The study also sought to establish whether the application of the procurement and disposal procedures lead to accountability and transparency, effectiveness and efficiency value for money and environmental and human health protection. It was revealed that the movement seems to have only shifted competency levels from poor too low to average in most of the cases except with regard to insisting on the value for money in procurement and disposal of assets which was high after the law. The results indicate that there is application of the procurement and disposal procedures. It also indicated that cooperation among various units in the organization existed but in small amounts. Finally recommendations were made like; strengthening measures to reduce the level of corruption, creating awareness of the procurement and disposal procedures, adequate and timely funding of works and sensitization of service providers.
- ItemAn assessment of effectiveness of tendering procedures and regulations in public institutions: a case study of the National Board of Materials Management (NBMM)(Kampala International University; College of Economics and management, 2007-04) Maimuna, Said M.The performance in Chemistry and sciences has been low over the years. The sciences borrow heavily from Chemistry concepts and principles. The research was on the relationship between performances in Chemistry and Physics. The research was carried out from secondary sources based on textbooks, magazines, KCSE results of selected schools over three years. The findings were presented objective by objective, drawing contrast, similarities and identifying on new inferences from the study. The researcher's opinion is given at the end. Recommendations stated were centered on the loop holes identified during the study. It includes adding value to the teaching -learning experiences in Physics, enhanced team teaching among st Physics and Chemistry teachers. Secondary schools should invest in the building of library facilities for the students to access reference textbooks of sciences and Mathematics. This will encourage individualized study among students and that will definitely improve performance.
- ItemAn assessment of effectiveness of tendering procedures and regulations in public institutions: a case study of the National Board of Materials Management (NBMM)(Kampala International University, College of Economics and management, 2007-04) Maimuna, Said M.The government has been using shopping procurement instead of tendering, however. it has insisted on tender purchase instead of shopping. Tendering has been recommended by the World Bank as the only way of controlling the government properties because it has been revealed that more than 70% of government fund has been used in purchasing. Perhaps there has been a great loss of this public fund hence forth tender is to be used instead, to prevent this problem. The researcher assessed the effectiveness of tendering procedure and regulations in public institutions and examined the problems encountered in tendering evaluation, case study as National Board of Material Management located along Nyerere road at the government store premises . The study also observed the condition of selecting members of tender board and tender committee. More than one method of data collection has been used such as unstructured interview, participatory, and questionnaire provided to the sample of member of tender board selected, simple random (unrestricted) sampling used. The result showed that 85% of the respondent experienced difficulty during evaluation process. While 95% of the sample responded that it is better to purchase through tendering. Among the problem is un fulfillment of bidding document, favoritism and lack of enough funds. Several recommendations have been made to eliminate those problems such as: Increase number of supplies officer in the tender board; - Amendment of professional code of conduct - The NBMM to strengthen its procurement training workshops, short courses and so on. NBMM to be changed and replaced with PSB - Amendment of method for collecting bid documents.

The data were collected by using questionnaires, interviews. Data analysis and presentation of funds, The findings were analyzed and presented basing on the research questions. The study employed a cross section study design where data was collected across a cross section. The study used both qualitative and quantitative data collected from a sample of 80 respondents using questionnaires and interview guide. The study findings revealed that there is a strong significant relationship between quality assessment and procurement sustainability. The findings tTVl'akcl that quality planning is one of the essential elements under effective :JLWlity management posing a significant relationship with procurement sustainability. fhe findings further revealed that quality control and quality assura.Ilce define nhat 1s required for effective quality management; with effective mplementation of these factors the company can be able to achieve its )rocurement objectives in relation to quality. Following the research findings, the study concluded that quality management 1as got a positive relationship with procurement sustainability which indicates hat the level of effectiveness directs impacts on the procurement performance. 'he study recommended majority of the procuring organizations to carry out Jroper quality management, implement effective quality management echniques if they are to achieve procurement sustainability.

Findings of the study were presented and analyzed in the report which conclusions & recommendations were made respectively. The findings revealed that both qualitative and quantitative methods of analysis was adopted on descriptive. - ItemBuyer-Supplier Relationship Management and Contract Performance among Manufacturing Firms: A Case of Hima Cement Factory(Kampala International University, bachelors degree in supply and procurement management, 2018-08) Nyakaisik, i BrendaThe research study aimed at examining the influence of Buyer-Supplier Relationship Management on Contract Performance in Hima Cement Factory. The objectives of the study were 10:- to establish the influence of information exchange on contract performance in Hima cement factory, to determine the influence of trust and commitment on contract performance of Hima cement Factory and to assess the effects buyer-supplier partnerships on contract performance at Hima Cement. This study used a case study research design involving quantitative methods (Andaleeb, 19%).The quantitative approach was used to quantify incidences in order to describe current conditions and to investigate the relationships between Buyer-Supplier Relationship and Contract Performance using information gained from the questionnaires (Scott, 2002). The qualitative approach was used to explain the events and describe findings using interviews and documentary analysis. All this enabled the researcher to gain in-depth information that was used to find solutions for the research questions of the study (Creswell, 2003). The researcher obtained an introductory letter from the university (Kampala international University) which she presented to the management of Hima Cement Factory for permission and consent. The data that was obtained from the respondents and treated purely as an academic information and confidential for the safety. social and psychological well-being of the respondents. From the data collected it is evident that trust communication. risk assessment and management and Strategic supplier partnership have a positive correlation to Contract Performance. From the summary on the findings. it can be concluded that. buyer-supplier relationship management practices and the Contract performance in Hima Cement Company are positively related. The positive relationship between supplier relationship management and organizational performance should be acknowledged based cm the results shown in the summary of the findings above. The study was based on the findings and conclusion proposes that Hima Cement Factory need to critically reconsider several aspects of the Buyer-supplier relationship strategies. First there is need to be regularly reviewing the strategics to be in line with the changes in expectation and needs of the customers. From the finding technology adoption was said to be among the least utilized relationship marketing strategy and therefore the players need to critically analyze the situation and rectify it.

The methodology involved the use of a cross-sectional research design because the researcher intended to use a variety of knowledgeable respondents. Quantitative measures were employed through the use of questionnaires to attain data from the variables under investigation to generate the information. The findings revealed that Steel works has various factors that lead to the development of supplier relationship some of these factors singled out were: Huge reduction in the cost of purchasing, logistics is attributed to existing relationships, the institution shares the information freely with its suppliers, enhanced innovation and creativity is realized through the relationship, joint problem solving and risk sharing is enhanced through the relationship, the institute enjoys a bigger market share through partnering with its suppliers, most of the materials purchased by your institution are usually of low value and low volume, the institution is always engaged in joint collaboration with its suppliers, the institution obtains most of its materials from external supply sources, most transactions with your suppliers are basically one-off, the institution depends on a variety of suppliers for the provision of its material needs, joint collaborations with your suppliers improves product quality and innovations, timely delivery and reduced supply risk results from closer communication with your suppliers, improvement in material quality and elimination waste results from clear understanding of material requirements, flexibility is enhanced as a result of sharing information on materials needs of other organization and lastly increased reliance on multiple suppliers increases the rate with which materials are made available to your institution. The study recommends here is need for hiring staff with required advanced procurement skills and most of all continuous on job training in form of seminars, short courses and workshops as ix regards to procurement and inventory management. This greatly enables staff to be professional in the best way possible as this will tend to leave clients satisfied hence attracting new ones and having repeat clients Supplier’s involvement in the institution should be taken seriously. With this in place, suppliers don’t feel left out views and problems are dealt with and heard hence leaving them satisfied. This is very important for client attraction and retention which ultimately leads to organizational performance.

A case study of Hawse McGeorge was examined and the results taken to represent other organizations. The specific objective of his study was to scrutinize how delayed lead times cause and to what extends it affects productivity at Hawse Me George Iaborex limited and some strategies that will bring improvement to the problem in the organization. The study identified factors that contributed to delay lead times and made recommendations on ways of reducing such delays. Reviewed literature suggests that no exhaustive study on the causes of delayed lead times and their effects on productivity had been done especially in Kenya. A sample size of administrative departments was used from where 30 respondents were randomly selected to take part of this study. The collected data was analyzed using various statistical methods. Collected data was organized and codified for processing to generate the relevant information which came from the research. Based on the research findings Hawse Me George experience delayed times due to internal causes like unqualified staff, poor inventory management, lack of space, poor communication, lack of supply chain management and external causes like government policy, infrastructure, poor feedback, suppliers. This was found to have effects on the productivity of the organization. In the long run this led to added cost in supplying, poor customer satisfaction, drop in production, and low profits. Workable lead times should be set in accordance to his materials required. Training of procurement personnel was recommended so as to equip them with modern techniques that shorten lead times and improve productivity. The study concluded that efforts should be made to make sure that suppliers are aware of the schedule lead times of materials. Thus will make sure that materials are delivered in time to avoid unnecessary delays and production stoppage. Moderate stocks should be held to ensure that production does not stop in case of delays. Stock should just be enough to ensure non-stoppage in production and deliveries. Based on the findings it was evident that if lead time is well recognized it increases sale volume and high markets because customers are well satisfied with what is supplied. Thus the organization should adopt appropriate methods in getting their suppliers.

- ItemChallenges faced in supply chain management: a case study of Uganda Clays Limited Company(Kampala international University College of Economics and Management, 2007-09) Musanganya, AlfredThe study was conducted to identify the roles of Total Quality Management in procurement, to identify the methods used in applying total quality management, challenges faced, and find out the solutions to the problems faced, and how other departments recommend procurements activities The study was undertaken in the procurement department and other closely related departments; Quality Control, Stores, Production and Finance. Participants were all members of the department since they were not many. Study findings indicate that there are various roles played by TQM in procurement with a major one being cutting of costs. They include; inspection, reworks, redresses and scraps, at the same time producing quality goods and services among others. Also increasing support from the top management of the organization encourages the success of the department. It can be concluded that trading period or a number of years suppliers had spent trading period Uganda Clays Limited did not have significant impact on the satisfaction levels, likewise, the value of business handled by the supplier trading with Uganda Clays Limited did not significantly influence the supplier or purchase satisfaction levels. The variables used in the study are very critical in building trust between two trading partners and the results depict those Uganda Clays Limited material management section needs to address the dissatisfaction in order to improve on the constraints in the supply chain link and consequently the efficiency and customer service for the internal customers.

Data were collected from 109 respondents using self administered questionnaires as the key data collection instruments. The findings revealed that customer relations was very high customer relationship management, high level of business performance, and no significant relationship between customer relationship management and level of business performance was established, accepting the Null hypothesis. The study was majorly based on two specific objectives that is to say: evaluating the influence of competitive bidding on service delivery in Uganda blood bank Nakasero and the second objective was to assess the influence of restrictive bidding on service deliveiy in Uganda blood bank Nakasero. The research was conducted in within Uganda blood bank Nakasero branch due to easy accessibility of in/iwinalion by the researcher since it is in the heart of the capital of Uganda. Quantitative data techniques of research were used during the study and these included; interviews, questionnaires, and observation methods. Interviews were conducted on selected staff from the Uganda blood bank Nakasero branch including the procurement departmnent~ User department, accomitm~ officers and finally data from Service providers which helped the researcher to come up with complete and reliable information. The information collected was organized according to five chapters in order to make meaningful presentations and discussions, conclusions aiicl recommendations. The research findings collected revealed that open competitive bidding and restrictive bidding are prevalent in Uganda Blood Bank Nakasero and is the most used by the organ ization to solicit fOr service providers. It was flirt/icr established that the level of open competitive bidding had a mean index 2.652) implying that open domestic bidding influence service delivemy management at a small extent since the mean generated provides a figure that is slight/i’ above the average 2.5.Restrictive service delivemy had the total mean index is 12.3341) in reference, in the questions presented it can be construed that restrictive bidding a/fret service deliver~’ management in Uganda Blood Bank Nakasero to the smallest extent. The researcher denotes that the nature of the relation could be a sign of other factors which influence service deanship’ management in Uganda Blood Bank Nakasero, hence the need for consideration in rcconunendation.s’.It is upon this background that the researcher called upon the o/ficials to undergo ongoing, intensive and wholesome training to improve on competence and in/egrily. 7/ic global environment is too dynamic, complex and thus turbulent requiring flexibility in the execution of the procurementJunctions. Products are changing constantly, so are ~pecffications’. Procurement official's must be fully knowledgeable of these changes to effectively perform. If there is need, the department should be .financially facilitated to outsource some expertise in situation of complex specifications.
