The study was done to analyze the contribution of NGOs towards improving the women’s health in Kitayunjwa Sub County, Kamuli district, It was guided by the following objectives; identification of the health problems faced by women in Kitayunjwa Sub County Kamuli district, analyzing the health activities of NGOs towards improving the health ofwomen and establishing the challenges faced by NGOs in improving the health of women. The study used a descriptive design employing quantitative approaches of data collection. Questionnaires were used in data collection, According to the findings Women Acting Together for Change (WATCH), Plan International Uganda Chapter, Uganda Women’s Network (UWONET), and Child Fund were the major NGOs that were active in improving the health of women in Kitayunjwa Sub County, Kamuli district. The study further revealed that the NGOs sensitized the women on the health issues, played an advocacy role, and extended health services to rural areas and even equipped health centers with health equipment’s such as CD4 machines. The health issues of women related on maternal complications such as miscarriages, abortions among others this limited their ability to carry out their routine duties such as domestic work and -development work all which retards development. Despite the activities of NGOS they were limited with several issues such financial constraints, few personnel, lack of cooperation between the staff of NGOs, Government ~and the Local Community all which has retarded the works of the NGO5. The study recommends that the Government of Uganda should increase its budget allocation on the health sector since the health of person is one of the pre-requisite for development and this can be done through provision of enough medical services to the females. There’s also need for continued partnership of Government and NGOs so as to meet the common goal of improving the health of women, extension of health services to the rural areas deep in Kitayunjwa Sub County so as the rural women should also enjoy the same services enjoyed by other people.en_US
