This study was intended to examine the relationship between distribution channels and supply chain management with specific objectives of 1) To assess the relationship between outsourcing and supply chain management 2)To examine the relationship between distribution centers and supply chain management 3)To find out the relationship between warehousing and supply chain management. The study employed descriptive research design and researcher used structured questionnaire. A research population of 225 was identified and a sample size of 144 respondents was selected using the Slovene’s formula. In selecting the respondents the researcher used the simple random sampling technique. The study found that using a bivariate Pearson linear correlation analysis that outsourcing and supply chain management of Coca-Cola Company, Mogadishu, Somalia has a weak positive relationship with R of 0.365. Distribution centers and supply chain management have also a strong positive relationship with R of 0.62 8. The study also found that warehousing and supply chain management of Coca-Cola company in Mogadishu Somalia, has also strong positive relationship with R of 0.756. The researcher recommended that Coca-Cola company must consider outsourcing as an important factor on their supply chain, they also take into account that distribution center plays an important role in their supply chain and the company must aware that warehousing contributes the well being of their supply chain management. The study concluded and found that there is a relationship between distribution channels and supply chain management of Coca-Cola Company in Mogadishu- Somali.

The study was guided by three specific objectives, that included i) determining the extent of functional procurement process. ii) level of fraud detection; iii) the relationship between functional procurement process and fraud detection in Twangiza Gold Mining Company, in South Kivu Province of Democratic Republic of Congo. This research employed descriptive correlational design to describe the relationship between functional procurement process and fraud detection in Twangiza Gold Mining Company, in South Kivu Province of Democratic Republic of Congo, the study used a total population of 200 and a sample size of 133 respondents, and the questionnaire was used as the research instrument. Descriptive statistics used in this study included frequencies, means and PLCC on correlation of variables~ The findings revealed the following: majority of respondents in this sample ranged between 31-40 years and these were male (68.4%) and had only attained diploma as their highest academic qualification (60.9%) and had an experience of 6-9 years (33.8%). Data analysis using means showed that extent of functional procurement process was found to be satisfactory (over all mean=2.90), and the level of fraud detection was found to be high and this was indicated by the overall mean (mean=2.85). The extents of functional procurement process and fraud detection are positive and significantly correlated. The researcher recommended that; the procurement officers in Twangiza Gold Mining Company should always start with identifying the need in relation the activity, this will lead to flow of functional procurement process, should make sure that the tendering data is always accessible for the suppliers who are willing to take such tenders, and always to display tendering opportunities to potential suppliers using emails.

It was guided by three specific objectives, that included; to determine the effect of just-in-time inventory on performance of super markets in Kampala Uganda, to establish the effect of vendor managed inventory on performance of super markets in Kampala Uganda and to establish the effect of material requirements planning on performance of super markets in Kampala Uganda. This research employed cross-sectional, survey and descriptive research design to describe the variables and the questionnaire and interview guide were used as the research instruments. Descriptive statistics were used in this study included frequencies, means and regression analysis on variables. The findings revealed the following: The findings indicated that just-in-time significantly affects the performance of super markets in Kampala Uganda, this effect therefore implies that just-in-time highly contribute to the performance of super markets in Kampala Uganda, the findings revealed that there is a significant effect vendor managed inventory has on performance of super markets in Kampala Uganda , findings of this study proved a weak positive significant effect material requirements planning has on performance of super markets in Kampala Uganda. Still the conclusions were that; there is a weak positive significant effect just-in-time has on performance of super markets in Kampala Uganda (β=0.491, Sig=0.000), effective vendor managed inventory significantly improves performance of super markets in Kampala Uganda (β=0.425, Sig=0. 000), Material requirements planning highly affects the performance of super markets in Kampala Uganda (β=0.533, Sig=0. 000). The researcher recommended that the: the owners should develop a good system to monitor, record and track all the inventory so that there is effectiveness in inventory management and ensure to cover loopholes in the system to enhance performance of super markets, owners and managers of the super markets in Kampala should develop vendor managed inventory system for example alternatives ways of keeping inventory which makes vendor managed inventory easy and flexible so as to boost performance of super markets. The study contributed to knowledge by showing that one of the most prominent findings from this study is the fact that it has provided evidence to support the fact that inventory management systems can improve the state of performance of super markets in Kampala. Another important revelation that can be attributed to this study is that it is now clear that inventory management system is somehow lacking, little is done through to improve performance of super markets in Kampala Uganda. The contribution to knowledge included the following; One of the most prominent findings from this study is the fact that it has provided evidence to support the fact that inventory management systems can improve the state of performance of super markets in Kampala. The research gap has been filled by this study. The study covered both the content and geographical gap of inventory management systems and performance. Another important revelation that can be attributed to this study is that it is now clear that inventory management system is somehow lacking, little is done through to improve performance of super markets in Kampala Uganda.

The study was guided by the following objectives:-Determine the demographic profile of the respondents in terms of: gender, age, educational qualification post/position in the organization and length of experience in procurement and supply activities ;to determine the extent of Logistics Contribution to Sections. and Partners of The United Nations Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (MONUSCO) Eastern Goma Province in terms of the expectations, satisfaction and service delivery of Its customers; to determine the extent of Service Delivery to Sections and Partners of The United Nations Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (MONUSCO) Eastern Goma Province in terms of the expectations, satisfaction and service delivery of its customers; and to examine whether there is a significance relationship in Logistics Contribution and Service Delivery to Sections and Partners of The United Nations Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (MONUSCO) Eastern Goma Province in terms of the expectations, satisfaction and service delivery of its customers. The main instruments for• data collection were basically questionnaires but also face-to-face interviews were conducted using an interview guide. Data collected using questionnaires and a structured interview guide was analyzed using frequency counts in form of percentages and was later tabulated to determine the relationship between variables. The target population was 300 of which a total of 150 respondents were selected. The research was principally descriptive involving both qualitative and quantitative techniques of data analysis. Various data analyses procedures were applied: descriptive analyses, Pearson’s correlation coefficient, single regression and multiple regression analyses in order to achieve the objectives of the study. The findings reveal that there is a significant correlation between Logistics Contribution and Service Delivery to Sections and Partners of the United Nations Stabilization Mission. The researcher recommended, listen to your customers, deal with complaints, Be helpful, process quality assessment, public grievance redress, don’t make promise~ unless you will keep them, Train your staff to be always helpful, courteous, and knowledgeable; and Take the extra step; for instance. The researcher concludes that the levels of. Logistic contribution and service delivery were both generally high at the sections. Once the above aspects are attended to, Service Delivery to Sections and Partners of The United Nations Stabilization Mission is a very useful vice in Logistics Contribution.

KlaflehThe study was set to examine the effect of logistics management on organizational performance of selected manufacturing organizations in Monrovia, Liberia. The study objectives included assessing the effect of packaging on performance of manufacturing organizations, to establish the effect of warehousing on performance and third objective transportation on performance of the manufacturing organizations in Monrovia, Liberia. The study was based on a descriptive survey in a context of three manufacturing organizations of Coca Cola, Rico and Liberia cement corporations, these provided information for the study, the data was collected both quantitative and qualitative. The focus was on 191 respondents who were employees of the selected manufacturing companies. The analysis of data took into considerations the descriptive statistics on mean, standard deviation for levels and the regression analysis for attaining the level and magnitude of the effect of the independent variables on performance. The research findings reveal that the overall logistics management had a positive effect on performance though the effect was low. Given that the findings that packaging affects the performance of the manufacturing companies in Monrovia by 2.6%. Warehousing affected the performance of the manufacturing companies in Monrovia by 3.5%. It further implies that the effect is very low and transportation affects the performance of the manufacturing companies in Monrovia by 12.9%. It further implies that the effect is very low. The researcher concluded that packaging contributed to performance of manufacturing companies though the effect was insignificant the researcher conclude that packaging is a key logistical function and affect performance to some limited extent. On the second research objective, the researcher established that the level of ware housing the manufacturing organizations was low, issues to do with computerization in warehousing was found to a limited usage, the researcher also argued warehousing to a small extent affected profitability of the studied manufacturing sector. The third objective that set to evaluate the transportation mechanisms of the manufacturing organizations reveal transportation inefficiencies were found present the transportation mechanisms also affected the performance however much the effect was very low. The researcher recommends that there is need for enhancing the functions of transportations through computerization and enhancing transportations. There is need for more attention on the packaging of the products as it was found to attract the customers further more warehousing also needed to be enhanced for improving the performance mechanism

The study adopted descriptive research design. The population of the study was 120 employees at TBA and a sample size of 92 respondents was used. Structured questionnaires and interview were used to collect data. The specific objectives of the study were; to assess the level of compliance to best public procurement practices by TBA, to analyze the barriers of best procurement practices in the public sector and to determine the relationship between best public procurement practices and performance of public sector The study found that accountability is highly observed by TBA in the procurement of goods and services as 52.2% of respondents strongly agreed, 27.2% agreed, and 19.6% disagreed and 1.1% strongly disagreed. The study found that there were barriers to best procurement practices in the public sector such and corruption was leading. Also the study found that there was a strong relationship between the Best Procurement Practices and Public Sector Performance ( . The study recommended the government to enforce the use of best procurement practices, public entities must ensure that skilled candidates are employed and government to enforce accountability to reducing corruption in procurement.

- ItemProcurement planning and service delivery in Jinja Local Government, Uganda(Kampala International University, College of Economics and Management, 2018-05) Nakawooya, SarahThe study established the effect of procurement planning on service delivery in Jinja district Local Government, three specific objectives guided this study and these were; (i) to examine the effect of budget plans on service delivery in Jinja district Local Government, (ii) to establish the effect of procurement methods on service delivery in Jinja district Local Government, and (iii) to assess the effect of quality plans on service delivery in Jinja district Local Government. The study a adopted the following designs; descriptive correlational to measure the degree of association between variables, cross-sectional research design was used because data was drawn/collected from a wide spread of respondents and single linear regression analysis was used to establish the significant effect between variables in order to fulfill the research objectives. The study used a research population of 135 and a sample size of 101. The findings indicated that budget plans significantly affects service delivery in Jinja district Local Government, therefore this implies that budget plans significantly affects service delivery, procurement methods has a significant effect on service delivery in Jinja district Local Government, this was so because procurement methods had a significant impact on service delivery , hence confirming that the more effective procurement methods is, the more it improves service delivery in Jinja district Local Government, quality plans has a significant effect on service delivery in Jinja district Local Government, this led to an implication that high levels of quality plans improves service delivery in Jinja district Local Government. The researcher concluded that; budget plans significantly affects service delivery, the more procurement methods is effective it improves service delivery in Jinja district Local Government, high levels of quality plans is applied, it improves service delivery in Jinja district Local Government. The researcher recommended that; the local government of Jinja, should put in place effective budget plans on all suppliers’ records, the local government of Jinja should make sure that the decision to use a particular procurement method should always primarily base on the stipulations of the procurement legal framework and the local government of Jinja, the procurement planning should involve always making key decisions in the procurement cycle for major projects that includes business case and contract award. The study contributed to knowledge since it shows that among the procurement methods, open tendering should be the appropriate procurement method to be applied since it accounted for the biggest effect on service delivery in Jinja district local government. One of the most prominent findings from this study is the fact that it has provided evidence to support the fact that procurement planning can improve the state of service delivery in Jinja district local government.

The study was limited to the following objectives: i) to determine the effect of procurement packaging on value for money Among Selected Districts in Southern Province, Rwanda ii) to establish the effect of procurement method on value for money Among Selected Districts in Southern Province, Rwanda and iii) to find out the effect of procurement scheduling on value for money Among Selected Districts in Southern Province, Rwanda .The study used descriptive survey design. The target population was 191 procurement officers. The sample size of 129 respondents was determined using Slovene’s formula. The main research instrument was questionnaires. The retrieval rate of the questionnaire was 94% (121). Data analysis was done using frequency and percentage tables, mean and standard deviations, and linear regression analysis. The study revealed that procurement packaging significantly affects the value for money. Furthermore, the study revealed that procurement method significantly affects value for money. Similarly, the study revealed that procurement scheduling significantly affect value for money. The study concluded procurement planning affects value for money. The study made the following recommendations: the need for procurement officers to use good procurement packaging where they allow bidders to submit bids for one or multiple lots; the need for procurement officers to embrace all procurement methods depending on the circumstance and the nature of the project so as to be as comprehensive as possible since each procurement method has its own advantage; the need for procurement officers to involve stakeholders and superiors in project scheduling so as to streamline any inconsistency. The contribution to knowledge of the current study is that procurement packaging, procurement method and procurement scheduling affect value for money significantly, though other scholars found mixed results in the same.

The study was guided by specific objectives which included: To examine the procurement process of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) -JUBA office; To examine the performance of logistics at United Nations Development Programme UNDP-JUBA office; and To establish the relationship between procurement and logistics performance. The study used a cross-sectional survey design that combines both qualitative and quantitative designs. The quantitative approach was adopted to measure the magnitude of the various constructs and variables that were conceptualized which lead to understanding the strength of each construct in their contribution to the main IV and its relationship with the DV. Results indicated that the procurement process of United Nations Development Programme UNDP - JUBA office was fairly where the main components accounted for 77.412% of the variance of Process and this is to indicate that the overall performance of procurement had a significant influence of up to 77.4% from the combined input of the different procurement activities. This finding was in line with the argument that clear policies or activities undertaken in the procurement process have the biggest return and performance not only on the money spend (VFM) but also on the general outcome of the process.

A case study of Spedag interfreight Uganda Limited. Also, to identify the risks faced by l9gistics companies and to determine the impact of operational risk on performance. A sample of 70 respondents was selected from the total population and the questionnaire was distributed in order to collect data to be analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) and regression analysis was carried out in order to establish the relationship between the variables and the finding revealed that there was a significant relationship between the variables of the current research. Regression analysis showed that risk management significantly predicted 69% of operational performance of logistics companies. Based on the findings the researcher concluded that Risk management has a positive effect on operational performance of logistics companies in Uganda. This effect was significant at 5% level, B = 0.640, p 0.00 1. Logistics companies were recommended to enrich and embraces risk management practices in order to attain better performance in terms of profitability, dependability, flexibility and costs reduction.
