(Kampala International University, College of Economics and Management, 2009-08) Magezi, Edgar
The purpose of this project was to develop an online ticket ordering system that will ease and facilitate the clients of Scandinavia Express Services. The use of online system fastens the process of recording personal information of clients and booking of tickets. The system will market the company as well as provide information about the products and services offered by Scandinavia Express Services. I started by examining the mode of operation of Scandinavia Express Services .This involved recognizing the key roles played by the staff and the strategies used by clients to order for tickets. The data was obtained from both primary and secondary sources. I then reviewed the weakness of their mode of operation and thus developed a system based on the requirements of the users aiming at addressing the weakness and challenges faced with the previous operation. Finally recommendations were made to raise awareness on the role played by online ticket ordering system and promote usability while learning from other players in the transport industry.

A web-based airline reservation system case study: agefreco airways DRC
(Kampala International University,School of Computing and Information Technology, 2009-05) Mapatano, Bashengezi Erick
Airline companies have existed since the beginning the 20th century. This industry has been dramatically improving since the late 1950s. European and American companies lately developed websites for their companies in order to increase customer satisfaction through these new services. In Africa, especially in DRC, this new technology is still at the initial stage and developers are shifting from simple websites to dynamic ones with much more interactivity. This paper focuses on the airline industry on the Web and develops a customer oriented airline site evaluation framework. It may be useful not only to users that purchase airline services via Internet but also to designers and developers of airline websites. The main objective of this project was not only to develop an online airline reservation system that could speed up the business process of the company but also to allow users to check themselves for flight schedules, tariffs, plane types and they would be able to make and cancel a reservation. Airline reservation systems can manage multiple airlines, schedules and fares. Multiple agents can log in and users can view deals reserve online and pay with either a credit card, check or cash. The administrators con basically setup the system to your needs, input all the fare into airline schedules and create agents who will use the system to book and make reservations.

In chapter two, the related literature was reviewed which was in line with the objectives and researcher questions of the study. Chapter three focused on the research design, study population, sampling techniques, size and sample size data collection methods and instruments, data analysis and limitations of the study. The researcher had a total population of 88 respondents from which only 66 were chosen. Chapter four of this research had the presentation, interpretation and analysis of findings. The data was presented in form of tables, and graphs. The researcher followed the questionnaire from the Bio data characteristics of the respondents and then the objectives of the study. As per the demographic characteristics of the respondents, majority were men compared to women. It was implied that the age bracket of 41-50 had majority of the respondents because they were considered to work harder than those within the age bracket of 30-40. In reference to the researcher's fmdings on level of internet usage in MGCs, 70% of the total respondents who were the majority who indicated that Internet usage in MGCs are very high. Chapter five contained the summary of the findings and discussions of fmdings about the research. The researcher summarized that, Mukwano group of industries use basic communication category of Internet technologies and that above 50% of all the respondents had adopted technology of one form or the other as best suited their situations. The study therefore concludes that there exists a recognizable level of ICT adoption and integration in MGCs .It is therefore, necessary to develop programs and solid strategies aimed at sustaining the ever growing quest in this technological arena by cutting cost, offering competitive leverages and managing business dynamics in MGCs.
